Do you attend home births or only hospital births?
I attend births in various settings across Tucson, including home births, birth centers, in hospital birth centers like the TMC Midwifery Center with the El Rio Midwives, and all local hospitals. I support individuals in choosing the birth setting that aligns with their preferences and needs. My goal is to provide safe, evidence-based care wherever you choose to give birth.
How do I know if hiring a doula is right for me?
Hiring a doula can be beneficial for families seeking personalized, holistic care and support during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Whether you're planning a natural birth, considering pain management options, or navigating medical interventions, having a doula by your side can enhance your experience and help you feel empowered and supported throughout your journey to becoming a parent.
Do you accept insurance?
I am currently 1 of 4 doulas in Tucson who accept AHCCCS patients with United Health Community & Banner as their insurers. I also have a wonderful recommendation for a Tricare accepted doula, Chrissi @ Sacred Moments Doula, as well as a Carrot approved doula, Ashley @ Dakine Doula Lastly, I can also provide you with documentation for reimbursement to your insurance. What if I need a C-Section
Sometimes a cesarean becomes the safest way for a baby to be born. Whether it is planned or unexpected, I can help you understand what is happening, talk through your options, and provide emotional support along the way. While doulas usually are not permitted in the OR, I will continue to support you and your partner, before and after the procedure.
What are the benefits of having a doula present during my birth?
Having a doula present during your birth offers numerous benefits, including continuous support, personalized care, reduced rates of medical interventions, improved birth outcomes, increased satisfaction with the birth experience, and enhanced emotional well-being for both parents and babies. Having a doula is by your side gives you someone on your birth team who doesn't come & go or change at every shift change. I am a steady presence you can trust to be with you through your journey.
Do you offer virtual consultations or support?
While I do believe strongly in the need to form a solid personal connection, I understand that scheduling in-person appointments may not always be convenient or feasible, especially for families with busy schedules or those living in remote areas. I offer virtual consultations and support via phone or video conferencing to accommodate your needs and preferences. Whether you have questions about pregnancy, childbirth, or postpartum care, I'm here to provide guidance and support from the comfort of your own home when needed.
Can I have a doula with an epidural?
Absolutely! Having an epidural doesn't mean you no longer need support, however, it can change what that support looks like, and I'm here for it! I very much believe that you get to choose how to birth your baby. This may be a natural birth or medicated. I am here to help and support you through those decisions. If you decide to utilize pain relief, like an epidural, I can support you through that choice. Once you get the epidural, there are continuous position changes that help baby to move down, as well as emotional support to be had. A doula's support is beneficial for all births, not just a natural birth.
What makes your care or approach of doula work unique from others?
I strongly believe one of the most important parts of doula care is connection. Every person & birth is different. I take the time to get to know you and your partner, your hopes, questions, concerns, & preferences, so that I can fully and genuinely support you and your needs. I feel deeply honored to be invited into such an intimate and sacred time in a family's life. My goal is to be a steady, loving presence you can lean on throughout your journey into parenthood.
